1. Coconut Oil and Zinc Oxide Sunscreen

Zinc oxide is another ingredient for natural UV protection as it physically blocks the UV rays from entering the skin. Coconut oil has a low SPF around 4-7 and is an excellent moisturizer for the skin.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • At room temperature, it’s solid
  • ¼ cup beeswax to make it thicker
  • 2 tbsp non-nano zinc oxide powder
  • 10 drops of essential oils lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint for fragrance.
  • 2 tbsp of shea butter to add extra moisture on the skin

Instructions:

  • Combine coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter and melt these in a double boiler.
  • Once you’ve melted it, remove it from the heat source and let it cool a bit.
  • Slowly add zinc oxide powder to the mixture while stirring gently to avoid inhaling the powder.
  • Add a few drops of the essential oils and mix well.
  • Put it in a clean jar or tin, and let it set at room temperature. Use liberally.

2. Aloe Vera and Carrot Seed Oil Sunscreen

Carrot seed oil is said to carry a natural SPF of between 35 and 40, and then there’s the soothing qualities of aloe vera: perfect for sensitive skin.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup aloe vera gel. Use pure.
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp carrot seed oil
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Optional
